Treating the Organic Dairy Cow: a Workshop for Veterinarians

Download Brochure

Wisconsin is a leader in organic dairy and we’re home to about 25% of the nation’s organically managed dairy cows. Sooner or later, you’ll be asked to treat an organic dairy cow! A workshop on December 4th and 5th will provide an in-depth look at what’s allowed under organic certification and what works. Nationally recognized organic dairy health care expert Dr. Hubert Karremann will lead the workshop along with Dr. Guy Jodarski, staff veterinarian with Organic Valley. The workshop will take a case history approach to address treatment of common dairy conditions such as mastitis, milk fever, pink eye, and reproductive problems.

The workshop, held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Madison, will begin at 5 pm with dinner and an evening session on December 4th and conclude at 3:30 pm on December 5th. A $100 registration fee includes program materials and meals; sleeping rooms at the hotel are reserved at a rate of $70/night. Attendees will receive a copy of Karremann’s book “Treating Dairy Cows Naturally” as part of their registration. The registration deadline is November 26. For more information, contact Laura Paine, WI DATCP at 608-224-5120 or laura.paine@wi.gov, or download a brochure at www.organic.wisc.edu. This program is supported by the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade, and Consumer Protection and the NC Regional SARE program.
